It’s Not Normal to Live in Discomfort
Treatment session with Tash Osgood and client
You may think that niggles, pain and discomfort are just a part of ageing and that it is a right of passage. It is quite a lazy view and can make ageing underwhelming and exhausting. Whilst we acknowledge that the body will change, it doesn’t have to be complicated, and it doesn’t have to be sad.
Now that you know discomfort and pain aren’t a right of passage, you could be well on your way to feeling better with a few lifestyle changes and the proper intervention.
In this blog, we will walk you through some quick changes you can make to help you feel and move better.
Reviewing your lifestyle and identifying areas for improvement can help you influence your body to go above and beyond so that ageing can be pleasant. Let’s say goodbye to pain.
1. Prioritise Movement
You must be intentional about movement. As work becomes a priority, you sit down more, and your body tightens. As your body adapts to your new lifestyle, it may perform daily tasks like bending down and standing up.
Quick things you can do
Increase your daily activity through things like walking, jogging and stretching.
Try a new sport or activity. Picking something you enjoy and doing it two to three times a week can make a difference.
Prioritise stretching as a daily activity; this will help you reduce tightness and discomfort and improve your posture.
2. Evaluate your Health
It is essential to understand your health, and if there are any changes, such as poor nutritional intake or increased stress, changes in your physical health can ultimately affect how you move.
Your body needs to recover correctly, and good quality sleep is fundamental. Aim to establish a wind-down routine, and aim for 7-9 hours.
Your nutrition dictates your body's behaviour, so nutrient-dense, quality food will help you feel better and fuel your body.
We are sure you’re sick of hearing it but with our bodies being made up of water, a great starting point to optimal function is staying hydrated.
3. Look at Treatment Options
If you have ongoing pain, whether back, knee, or shoulder, you must investigate the causes. Don’t just accept that you’re in pain; visit a practitioner who cares about getting you moving better.
We are an option at Osgood Sports Chiropractic. We believe you shouldn’t be trapped in long-term treatment; instead, we prioritise addressing the cause by providing physical interventions and rehabilitation exercises.
Remember, your body is designed to move well to support you in living in the best way, regardless of age. Discomfort doesn’t have to define your life. At Osgood Sports Chiropractic, we help you move better, feel more substantial, and embrace life fully.
Our clients will tell you they value our holistic approach to chiropractic care, with over 50 five-star ratings on Google reviews. The aim will always be to get you moving and feeling better.
So, what is chiropractic care, you ask?
Chiropractic care is a form of treatment that prioritises diagnosing and treating the musculoskeletal system. At Osgood Sports Chiropractic, we are more than just chiropractic practitioners; we utilise various techniques and treatment solutions to complement our chiropractic roots.
Located in London; Osgood Sports Chiropractic is led by Tash Osgood. Her journey through athletic injuries and recovery through chiropractic care inspired her to assist others in achieving relief and improved well-being.
“Tash is 100/10. I have known her for several years, and most recently, she treated me for ongoing shoulder pain outside of training. Other physios and chiros had told me to stretch more, etc, but Tash worked hard to solve the problem and fix me up with treatment sessions and a rehab programme. We continue to work together, and I love my visits. She is truly brilliant and an expert in her field. HIGHLY RECOMMEND! X
